What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of focused attention and deep relaxation. It’s similar to daydreaming, where you are aware of your surroundings but highly focused on your inner thoughts and experiences.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a mind-body therapy that uses hypnosis to help people make positive changes in their lives. A hypnotherapist will guide you into a hypnotic state and then use suggestions to help you address your specific goals.
Will I lose control during hypnosis?
No, you will not lose control during hypnosis. You remain aware of your surroundings and can come out of hypnosis at any time. In fact, all hypnosis is a form of self-hypnosis; the hypnotherapist is simply a guide to facilitate the process. It is also not a control serum. You will not do, or say, anything that you would not normally do in a waking state.
Can hypnosis be effective online?
Online sessions can be just as effective as in person, maybe more. An integral part of hypnosis is feeling comfortable and safe, and being able to experience it from the comfort of your home can feel supportive. One thing to note is that it is helpful to have a space where you are free from outside noises and distractions.
Can anyone be hypnotized?
Most people can be hypnotized to some degree. However, openness to the process and a desire to change are factors in successful hypnotherapy. As part of the first session, we will work to determine your suggestibility type, learn how your subconscious best takes in suggestions, and create an environment for greater success.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions you will need depends on your individual goals and the complexity of the issue. Some issues may be resolved in just a few sessions, while others may require more time. In general, a great deal can be accomplished in 3 – 6 sessions.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis isn’t quite sleep, even though the word comes from a Greek term for sleep. Instead, it’s a deeply relaxed and focused state. It’s similar to daydreaming or relaxing in your favorite chair after a long day. Some people report feeling heavy and deeply relaxed. Others, light and floaty. And others still, like they are just listening in a focused way. While the experience may vary, it does not necessarily reflect, or affect, positive outcomes.
Is hypnosis safe?
Hypnosis is safe. The Mayo Clinic even calls it “benign.” While a small number of people may feel a little groggy after a session, most people feel refreshed, energetic, relaxed, and happy. If you take certain medications or have certain psychiatric conditions, let your hypnotherapist know beforehand. But overall, hypnosis is a safe and effective process.
Do you accept insurance?
We don’t file insurance claims directly, but we can provide you with a receipt for services rendered. Some insurance companies may reimburse you for hypnosis, and some employers may offer coverage for hypnotherapy. We recommend checking with your insurance company or employer about coverage. Payment is due in full at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance. We accept various forms of payment, including cash, check, money order, and credit cards.
